BALANCING ACT

This image might remind you of your efforts to balance your activities, making sure you're doing everything you should do, need to do, have to do . . . and hopefully, WANT TO DO! I'm trying more and more to balance my life with more of the "Want To Do" than the "Should or Need To Do" lists.

I started "Creating with My Eyes Closed" as a reward for completed three pages of journaling each day. The journaling was an important exercise promoted in Julia Cameron's book, "The Artist Way". It's a wonderful way to get in touch with your subconscious. PLUS, it's fun and entertaining. If you are an artist, or a "wannabe" artist, it also provides inspiration for new art.

Paint with Me! In 1998, I began the move from entrepreneur to becoming a full-time artist. I realized it was no accident that I had gravitated to the advertising industry, with its emphasis on visual communication and its population of creative people! Even though I spent my time on management and sales, the allure for me was always the art. I gradually withdrew from my businesses, and focused on making the second half of my life an artist’s life. It has been pure joy to step out of the shadows and the sidelines, and allow myself to be the person making decisions about design, color, pattern and shape.
